i just found your blog and was very excited to see someone doing this. I have a service dog myself and i can honestly say that he has givenme back my life. i have Lupus and life is never normal and very unpredictable in the way that it will suddenly change and you are faced with a whole new set of health issues and needs. My dog warns me before a siezure will happen. He gives me about 10 minutes.... i have a metabolism that doesn't break down the natural epinephrine your body creates todeal with pain and stress. it will build and build until i will have a seizure which helps my body break it down. at least thatg is what the doctors at the Epilepsy Research Center said! all i know is that he is never wrong and he has notmissed one in over 6 years now. he also stabilzes me on my feet when i walk. the lupus also effects my joints and i have spinal bifida occulta in the bottle 3 vertebrae of my spine combined with osteoarthritis and osteoporosis.... so itend tolse my balance at any given time and with any ind of change under my feet such as transition strips between different kinds of flooring and threasholds. I haven't had a broken bone in 4 years now. I am only 42 and had always been vey active andinvolved and very independent. I became afraid of being out of the house by myself and also was afraid to be alone with my own chldren. Dierk gave me frredom from fear and the ability to be a normal mom. we have a small breedingprogram and do alot of training for other people and we donate one pup out of each litter to someone who could greatly benefit from and just can't afford it. We always pray for one pup to stand out as special and It is something God has truly blessed and out of 4 litters we have 8 woring service dogs and 2 K-9's not every pup is perfect for service and there is always at least one pup that needs to be a K9 or SAR and our program also provides me with a decendant of Dierk for the rest of my life. His grandson Gunny is my back up and will be my next one when Dierk is ready to retire.
Ilook forward to seeing Ajax learn and grow. he is a beautiful boy!! there is no other dog like a german shepherd

I am so happy you found us!!! We are more then happy to have you join us! I am so sorry for your illnesses but so greatful you have found a dog that gives you the freedom you deserve!Dierk is one of the many amazing dogs out there and you are very blessed to have such a good friend to help you when needed. Shepherds are amazing animals and can do good everywhere. You are right about not every dog is cut out to be what we would like them to be. if Ajax or my 1st pup Bindy doesn't make it as a guide dog, they will be tried as SAR, service dogs etc because Fidelco believes every dog has a job its just the point of finding the right one. God Bless you for donating one pup from every litter! That is very generous and thoughtful of you! You are truly an amazing person! Do you have a facebook page for your breeding program or a blog? I would love to read it and learn more about your dog and yourself! I am just learning about the guide dog side and getting a little involved with SAR but would love to learn more about service dogs! Thank you so much for joining us. Ajax and I both wish you and Dierk well. Please feel free to share more about your training with Gunny and Dierk, I would love to learn how they are trained compaired to the guide dogs. Thank you again and Bless you!
